Mindfulness and Body-Based Therapy for Anxiety, Grief, and Emotional Regulation
What is Mindfulness & Body-Based Therapy?
Mindfulness and body-based therapy focus on noticing what is happening within you, without judgment or pressure to change it right away.
Anxiety, grief, and stress often don’t just live in your thoughts—they show up in the body. You might notice this as:
a tight chest or shallow breathing
restlessness or difficulty slowing down
racing thoughts or feeling overwhelmed
feeling numb, shut down, or disconnected
In our work together, we gently bring awareness to these experiences.
This might include:
noticing your breath, body sensations, and emotional shifts
slowing down reactions so you can respond more intentionally
learning grounding tools when anxiety or overwhelm increases
building awareness of your nervous system and stress responses
This is sometimes referred to as nervous system regulation or body-based therapy.
While I don’t practice a specific somatic modality, I integrate mindfulness and body awareness into therapy in a way that feels natural, collaborative, and supportive.
This work isn’t about forcing calm or “fixing” how you feel. It’s about increasing awareness, creating space, and helping you feel more steady over time.
How This Approach Supports Therapy
Mindfulness and body-based work can deepen therapy by helping you:
better understand emotional patterns
feel less reactive in difficult moments
stay more present in conversations and relationships
reconnect with yourself when you feel overwhelmed or disconnected
For some clients, this is a small part of the work. For others—especially those navigating anxiety or grief—it becomes an important way of building stability and self-trust.
We move at your pace, and nothing is forced.
